The insurgents intended to execute the little girl also, and shot her in the head...but they failed to kill her.

INDIANAPOLIS - Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman is urging Indiana residents to write letters and send cards to troops during the upcoming holiday season.
Skillman says the mail campaign called "Hoosier Cheer For Our Heroes" is a chance for people to send their thoughts, prayers and thanks to Indiana servicemen and women who will be spending the holidays away from their homes and families.

Back in September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a social studies school teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks out of her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. - Purdue University has been chosen as a host site for Operation Purple Camp, a free national summer camp program designed to offer support in a fun and exciting atmosphere to the children of military parents who are or will be deployed.
